When search is running found web sites addresses are merged with existing sites in currently selected project. Before starting web search/download task click Edit | Public Projects | New Project menu item to create a new project for your search topic or select an existing project. Each project can have its own download directory. We recommend to create separate projects for different search topics.

The next step is defining search terms (key words and/or phrases) to find web sites matching your interests. Web masters not always describe their pages using correct key words, in addition different search engines make their own assumptions on what we are looking for so the results returned are vary depending on topic, search engine, search method and key words used. Do not give up and try another search using different search terms! Here you can read more about "search math" methods, such as using plus and minus symbols before search terms and "exact phrase" search.

To run web search click Web | Web Search menu item to open Find Web Pages dialog, enter the key words, select desired search options and press Search button. By default maximum number of results returned by each search engine is set to 150. It is sufficient in most cases but you can increase it to 500 or even more if necessary. If Exclude Duplicates option is checked AmiPic excludes URLs having identical descriptions and/or identical URL path

If search is country specific and search terms are in native language you can deselect search engines not supporting this particular language to speed up the search:

If search returns no results or not relevant results:

• narrow your search using + and - symbols and try "exact phrase" search
• search using different key words (phrases)
• use less specific key words (phrases)
• use less number of search terms or just a single, but specific search term for each query
• use country specific search engines, not only the major ones
• use key words in native languages (if supported by the search engine)

When searching for pictures, video and music files use regular search engines as well, not only specialized multimedia engines. Such files can be found everywhere on the Web, the key to success is your patience and "right" key words for your searches.
